The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Dina Drama Needs To End – Jack and Ashley Intervene

Dina (Marla Adam) has been a source of conflict on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for awhile. Now, as the action has shifted from Genoa City to Florida it’s obvious that this element of Y&R’s storyline needs to end. The audience supports Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) quest to help their mother escape Graham’s (Max Shippee) clutches, or to stop him otherwise.

Okay, so the former writing team wanted to revive a decades-old arc that involved Dina and Ashley. As longtime fans learned, Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) was Ashley’s biological father. The news was admitted by Adams’ character in the mid-1980’s. That character was written into the story then and was said to have left John (Jerry Douglas) in the 1960’s, which was before Y&R was on the air.

Ashley’s fictional reality was permanently altered. That’s why news of Madame Mergeron’s return to GC this year was virulently opposed.

The presence of Graham initially seemed to indicate that he was Dina’s boyfriend. Time revealed that Mr. Bloodworth was actually a surface companion. In recent weeks his orphaned story was exposed, as his mother was confirmed alive in Florida.

Brent turned out to be Graham’s stepfather, so at least Ashley wasn’t related to him. However, Dina adjusted her will this summer which allowed her perceived confidant to become her main heir. He also enjoys power of attorney status and is currently exploiting it.

Seasoned daytime devotees must feel that Dina’s seemingly modest stroke was a good point to end all the drama. Instead, Graham shifted Dina south. Then, within days she magically transformed into a vibrant person who reacted violently after seeing Jack?

One assumes that executive producer Mal Young and his team are wrapping up this extended storyline. Adams’ character adds historical depth to the show and creates opportunities for further lengthening of the Abbott’s backstories.

Hopefully Dina remains around. As for Graham, Shippee is a fine actor. His alter ego Graham must either be redeemed, or he’s got to go. Jack and Ashley must know that many fans are counting on them to help their mother with this unresolved problem.
