The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Chelsea’s Situation Tenuous – Newman War Impacts Chick

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is afraid of what might happen on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t know about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity secret, yet. But ‘Chick’ faces its end if Victor (Eric Braeden) tells him.

Adam (Justin Hartley) determined that he was actually Christian’s father. He shared that belief with Chelsea. Together, they decided to keep this secret from Nick. Their choice underscored the compassion ‘Chadam’ felt for Nick who had recently lost his wife and Christian’s mother, Sage (Kelly Sullivan).

Meanwhile, the ‘Black Knight’ determined this truth as well. That seemed soapily suspicious at the time and still is. A segment of Y&R’s audience still wonders if Victor involved himself in fake DNA tests. That answer is yet to be determined.

Chelsea lost her husband in September 2016. Since that time she’s spoken with Victor, one-on-one, about the Christian issue. Both parties decided to keep the matter from Nick. Once again, compassion was the impetus.

Nick determined that Victor was linked to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and thus, Adam’s death, a few months ago. He immediately exposed Victor’s actions to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle), which resulted in a major family blowout. Chelsea knew that meant potential trouble for her as well.

There is no way that Chelsea will be able to explain away her free will choice. She’s had plenty of time to tell Nick about his nephew not being his son, but hasn’t done so.

While Nick will surely explode with rage and feel betrayed when he learns this apparent fact, one plot point might save ‘Chick’ from extinction. After he’s had time to regain his composure and think clearly, Nick will realize that he kept news of Victor’s involvement in Adam’s death from the woman he now cares for.

If both halves of this nice couple are smart, they’ll forgive each other’s secret and move forward. Chelsea and Nick shouldn’t allow Victor’s misguided view of life to split them apart.
