It was time for Cane (Daniel Goddard) to move forward on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Lily (Christel Khalil) wisely left him at the Ashby house so he could have an open conversation with the SORAS’d twins. As that scene played out, Y&R fans could again see the solid cast additions that Lexie Stevenson (Mattie) and Noah Alexander Gerry (Charlie) represent.
Cane’s been reeling for months. He lost control of his judgment, which was atypical of the post-Caleb (also played by Goddard) storyline, which took place years ago. His 2017 spin-out resulted in unemployment, the destruction of ‘Lane’ and fractured connections with his children.

However, Jill’s (Jess Walton) helpful decision has put Cane back on course professionally. The acting CEO of Chancellor Industries wasn’t able to obtain a position in Genoa City, which was partially his own fault. He sullied his own reputation, yet is committed to restoring it.
Jill also allowed Cane to move into the Chancellor mansion. Asking Juliet (Laur Allen) to live there as well was smart, as her medical condition is serious. Their soon-to-be-born son and his mother deserve a comfortable home to live in. They shouldn’t be alone as the big day approaches.
Mattie was finally able to convince her father to give Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) a second chance. Lily and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) developed their feelings about ‘Meed’ and Cane should as well, once he gets to know Reed better. Both young actors are playing heart-warming characters.
Charlie has begun to come around where Reed is concerned. So Mattie’s right to think that the more time her dad spends with Vickie’s son the better he’ll like him. Cane’s approval of a dinner that includes Mattie and Reed represents a nice breakthrough.

An unknown amount of time will be needed to determine if Cane can get his entire life back on track. But he’s persisting and is making progress on business and more importantly, personal fronts. Having two families isn’t easy, as Cane now sees.
