Billy (Jason Thompson) received a call from Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. After learning that there was a fire at The Underground Billy raced over, risked his life and saved three children. Cane (Daniel Goddard) now owes his former nemesis an eternal debt of gratitude and something more.
As Y&R viewers recall, Cane just softened his stance on Reed. Initially, he didn’t want his daughter anywhere near Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) son because he though Reed was a bad influence on Mattie (Lexie Stevenson). Lily (Christel Khalil) agreed with her soon-to-be ex-husband at first, but later relented.

Lily and Vickie made a joint decision within the last few weeks; Mattie and Reed could see each other again. Cane became aware of that development when he found Reed at the Ashby house that Lily kicked him out of.
It will be interesting to see if Lily and Vickie demonstrate character after the smoke clears and everyone has had a chance to reflect. Will they admit that Cane’s thoughts weren’t merely based on the conflict he had with Victoria?
Of course Reed isn’t a bad kid. But coaxing Mattie, Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and at first, a group of their school friends to The Underground under false pretenses proved nearly tragic for all involved. That followed ‘Mead’ cutting class, which became the basis of Cane’s first beef.

Everyone has been beating up on Cane, that group think took over. Yes, he acted recklessly with Juliet (Laur Allen), but he’s now owning those consequences.
More significantly, Cane’s sabotage of Billy’s DARE commercial shoot actually proved to be the event that led to the end of ‘Lane’. Lily’s thought process in that instance can’t honestly be eschewed because she was justified.

However, if Cane is honestly working toward redeeming his reputation he will embrace Billy wholeheartedly. He should not only thank Billy for saving the twin’s lives, but also offer to end their step-sibling rivalry. Of course this assumes that Thompson’s character survives the November Sweep’s fire (wink).
