The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Cane Still Smiling at Hilary – Lily Feels Left Out

Lily (Christel Khalil) will not be fully to blame if ‘Lane’ truly is over on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But she’ll have to acknowledge that she rebuked opportunities to reconcile in the recent past. As of mid-December, Cane (Daniel Goddard) has convinced himself that his wife isn’t able to get over what he’s done and so he appears to have moved on.

Actually, Cane is balancing life as a single parent of a newborn son who remains in Genoa City Memorial Hospital’s NICU and is swamped with responsibilities as the top dog at Chancellor Industries. So, it’s not as though he’s opposed to Lily. Instead, he’s distracted by serious family and business matters.

It remains possible that the above referenced points won’t serve to block a potential reunion between Cane and Lily. However, Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) repeated presence in Cane’s life is an issue that ‘Lane’ fans should worry about.

As longtime viewers recall, Hilary initially tried to set Cane up after she arrived in GC. She followed that unjustified personal attack with upside down marriages to Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Devon. She also had countless battles with Lily along the way. That’s why it was surprising to see Cane begin to bond with Miss Curtis during the latter part of the Juliet (Laur Allen) arc.

There’s increasing evidence that Cane and Hilary actually like being around each other. With Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) seemingly gone and Devon (Bryton James) not (yet) a romantic option (again), it’s plausible to project the emergence of ‘Hane’.

The mere idea of Hilary and Cane being together can not be rejected out of hand. First, Cane has demonstrated an ability to think illogically. Second, Hilary is Hilary.

Unless she sees evidence, Lily won’t know that Hilary might be competing with her for Cane. That puts Khalil’s character at a disadvantage. Then again, Lily would likely come back swinging if she realized that Hilary is, or could be her competition. Hopefully it won’t be too late by that speculated time.

‘Lane’ will continue to share an ongoing bond because of the twins. But Lily will need to decide if she wants to reestablish her marriage. Based on Hilary’s history and, let’s be honest, Cane’s as well, Lily will also need to fight for the man she still loves. If not, it seems possible that she’ll lose him and maybe, to her worst enemy.
