The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Cane Shut Out – Lily Lets Mattie See Reed Again

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Cane Shut Out - Lily Lets Mattie See Reed AgainLily (Christel Khalil) made a heartfelt decision on ‘The Young and the Restless’, but was it legally advisable? She chose to allow Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) to see Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) again. However, Cane (Daniel Goddard) should have been included in Lily’s decision-making process.

Vickie (Amelia Heinle) found Reed and Mattie together at Crimson Lights, which happened because Hilary (Mishael Morgan) let her former niece use her smartphone to text. Vickie took the kids to what is now Lily’s home, which Cane has generously consented to. Then a surprising change of mind took place. Vickie said that the high-schooler’s shouldn’t be prevented from seeing each other.

Both single mom’s confabbed in what had been the Ashby family kitchen. J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is said to be in Poland and has been out of the picture in Genoa City for years. Obviously, Vickie wasn’t going to consult him. But Lily opted to side with Vickie before she spoke with Cane.

Cane’s belief that Reed was a bad influence on Mattie did seem far too harsh and actually was linked to his feelings about Vickie having fired him. While this young couple could find danger in the future, as any couple could, they’ve been acting innocently to-date. So it’s true that Mattie and Read were the beneficiaries of an unfair adult decision (as led by Cane) that’s kept them apart for a few weeks.

But Lily is the one who sought a divorce. The ground she’s standing on in that legal and moral regard is strong. However, does that point mean she should act without Cane’s input on a decision of this type? It would seem hard to argue yes.

Why couldn’t Lily have told Vickie that she would consider her request, but needed to talk to Cane before reaching a conclusion? Lily understandably appears to believe that Cane’s judgment is so clouded that he’s incapable of making choices that are in the best interests of his children’s welfare.

Cane may come to use the above scenario as part of a divorce negotiation where custody and visitation is concerned. A shared arrangement would be fair, verses giving either side full control. Cane deserves to remain a real-time partner in any major decision that Lily makes that involves the twins and vice versa.

Lilly didn’t want to continue with marriage counseling, which then shifted ‘Lane’ to the legal system and therefore, interpretation of both adult’s rights. These issues are subjective, which is why people like Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) must often be hired.
