The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Ashley Better Jabot Head – Jack’s Record is Checkered

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) has taken control of Jabot on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jack (Peter Bergman) insisted upon elevating his sister to the acting CEO spot because he needs to help their mother Dina (Marla Adams) handle her health condition. But supporters of this cosmetics company are wondering if the corporate switch will become permanent?

The Abbott siblings have battled through the years, both personally and professionally. One would think that an equal power-share could work, with each person’s strengths boosting the other. However, multiple clashes have prevented that arrangement from becoming a lasting reality.

If John (Jerry Douglas) had lived longer he may have been able to orchestrate a workable balance between Jack and Ashley. However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Mr. Abbott has asked his sister to take over and she has, albeit with the condition that he’ll be returning at some unknown point.

Ashley projects as the better leader moving forward because she’s often been able to check her emotions with logic. Yes, she’s human and has made errors from time to time. But Ashley also recently earned the Innovator of the Year Award, which underscored how she’s followed in her father’s footsteps.

Until the Marco (also played by Peter Bergman) incident, Jack had been on a decade’s long revenge quest against Victor (Eric Braeden). Instead of always doing what was in Jabot’s best interest, Jack would often abandon his corporate responsibilities to pursue petty grievances against the ‘Moustache’, the ‘Black Knight’ or ‘Lurch’ , as Jack refers to his nemesis, Victor Newman.

Yes, it could be argued that Jack has backed off Victor within the last two years. It must also be noted that the partnership Jack formed with Fenmore’s has been very profitable. But that short-term track record doesn’t wipe away Mr. Abbott’s deeper business backstory.

Oh, Ashley will have a fight on her hands if she attempts to retain power when Jack’s ready to return. But all who believe in Jabot’s stability should hope that Ashley wins. As for ‘Jackie’, he can bite his lower lip and then serve as his sister’s right hand man.
