The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Abby’s Conflict Leads To Temporary Write-Out – Melissa Ordway With New Daughter

Abby (Melissa Ordway) recently became involved with Scott (Daniel Hall) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The circumstances of their connection were very soapy, but also necessary considering that Sophie was just delivered.

Sophie’s name wasn’t followed by an actor’s tag in brackets because she’s a real life person. Ordway delivered her second-born daughter on December 9, 2017. Congrats to the Gaston family in this regard. This fact impacts Genoa City, as Abby will soon be written out of the story, unless a temporary recast is coming.

Soap operas digitally record episodes six weeks in advance. That means Abby will disappear from the story sometime in mid- to late-January. Fans assume that she’ll return to the cast after taking maternity leave, which just began this month.

Devoted viewers know that tension has existed between Scott and Abby since Victor (Eric Braeden) first pitted them against each other within the upper echelon at Newman Enterprises. However, nothing actually happened until ‘Scabby’ was locked in a storage unit by Zack Stinnett (Ryan Ashton) late in the fall.

Scott flashed back to a time when he was held hostage by cowardly brutes who portray themselves as eternal victims, instead of human beings who are responsible for their own actions and resulting consequences. Abby comforted Scott, which is something they both regretted later. However, this pair has since kissed and openly expressed their previously latent feelings for each other.

Scott insists that he wants to be with Sharon (Sharon Case), which is making Abby increasingly angry. So it makes sense to believe that Victor’s second-born daughter will accept an out-of-town assignment as of next month. There are plenty of other fictional options that could be written to remove Abby from the picture for a number of months.

Ordway’s intriguing storyline will hopefully be revisited, as it affords her an opportunity to further develop Abby. In the meantime, it will also be interesting to see if Sharon learns Scott’s secret and what that means for Mr. Grainger.
