The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Abby Should Stay Away From Scott – Stitch Return Requested

How about that twist on ‘The Young and the Restless’? Instead of pushing for Scott (Daniel Hall) to stay away from Abby (Melissa Ordway), she’s encouraged to stay away from him. Yes, Y&R should try a turn-about storyline.

Longtime Genoa City fans know Abby’s history. Hayley Erin (who now plays Kiki on ABC’s General Hospital) first portrayed this character as a teenager from 2008-2010. She was followed by Emmy Rylan (who now plays LuLu on General Hospital). Rylan’s interpretation (2010-2013) included the infamous Lady Godiva arc. Ordway assumed the role in 2013.

Former executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and former co-executive producer Sally Sussman, along with former story consultant Kay Alden all opted to write the Abby character forward. The storyline that combined marrying Ben (Sean Carrigan) and Abby’s subsequent handling of his mentally unbalanced son Max (Jared Breeze) was noteworthy. Of course, Ordway’s skill radiated during that period and offered a glimpse at who Abby could become when she was presented in mature scenarios.

Hardcore Abby and Y&R fans should implore executive producer and head writer Mal Young to not allow Abby to regress back to the stereotypical air-head character that lingered for years in this fictional town. One way to prevent that from happening would be to avoid a pregnancy storyline.

Dialogue where Abby told Scott that she took precautions obviously implied that a baby could be in her future. Of course, Zack (Ryan Ashton) is a fatherhood candidate even though he’s now in the otherworld. Scott would seem the most likely dad or step-dad, depending upon what happens with ‘Shott’.

Savvy fans know that Ordway is soon set to deliver her second child in real life. That means she’ll be leaving the set sometime in December, which sets Abby’s on-screen departure for sometime in January.

Are Scott and Abby really the best possible pairing? Might Hall’s character be written out? He debuted earlier this year and doesn’t have tenure. Alternatively Y&R could bring back ‘Stitch’ after Ordway returns and reset the Abby character for good.
