The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Hilary Interested in Cane – Lily Faces New Threat

Just when it seemed like Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) were ready to repair their relationship on The Young and the Restless, a new threat has emerged. Devon (Bryton James) isn’t available and Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) was alienated, so who does Hilary (Mishael Morgan) appear to be turning to? Yes, Cane.

“No!” That’s the shrill shout that all ‘Lane’ proponents collectively screamed when the last two words in the above paragraph singed their minds. Reading about their fears the unimaginable potentially beginning to play out this week on Y&R.

Hilary went with Cane to Juliet’s (Laur Allen) unseen memorial. A secondary character who was created by the last writing regime and was almost universally rejected by the audience didn’t rate a flashback retrospective or even a few tears. Juliet is gone and that was that.

Later, at the Genoa City Athletic Club, Cane and Hilary were commiserating about how alone Juliet was in the world at the end of her life. Then Hilary did two things that were unusual. She kissed Cane on the cheek while leaving and, on her way out, called Mattie (Lexie Stevenson). Hilary told her that Cane needed consolation and that she and her brother should check on their dad as soon as possible.

Fans recall that Hilary had intervened in Mattie’s social life, covering for clandestine meetings with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu). However, in this instance, Hilary appeared to demonstrate genuine concern for another human being.

Lily recently put Jordan in the so-called ‘friend-zone’ and then told Hilary she’d done that. Hilary had hoped to get Jordan back, but was livid after learning that he considered her a Plan B. So she worked with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to distract Mr. Wilde, stole damaging materials from his room and then exposed his past life on GC Buzz.

It makes sense to believe that Hilary is actually using Cane’s fragile state in an effort to get back at Lily. At the very least Hilary hopes to put doubt in Lily’s mind about her husband.

‘Lane’ isn’t restored yet. But hopefully, this nice couple will be, despite the efforts of Hilary.
