No one is perfect on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But some Genoa City residents have lived better lives than others in 2017. So, who among them must make and keep a New Year’s Resolution?
Jack (Peter Bergman) is using Dina’s (Marla Adams) Alzheimer’s diagnosis as license to lash out at everyone. Often impulsive in the past, Mr. Abbott must resolve to treat all of the people who care about him with compassion.

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) was sincerely interested in the best interests of Jabot when she called on the board to take a confidence vote. She knew that her brother had been overwhelmed with their mother’s care and simply was trying to help. In addition, Billy (Jason Thompson) did not deserve the cheap shot about Delia (Sophie Pollono) that his brother took at him in Chancellor Park. It may have been Jack’s lowest moment of the year.
Hilary (Mishael Morgan) is trying to transform GC Buzz into the type of site that visitors and viewers would benefit from clicking on and watching. Devon (Bryton James) has long encouraged his ex-wife to use her media power to promote goodness, rather than salacious gossip.
If Hilary resolves to stay on course she can make progress in two major areas of her life. Less importantly, business. Most importantly, the restoration of ‘Hevon’.
Cane (Daniel Goddard) must resolve to always do right by his three children. The act that severely damaged, but didn’t yet end ‘Lane’ wasn’t the ill-fated night in Tokyo, Japan, with the now-departed Juliet (Laur Allen).
No, it was his choice to give into jealously and attack Billy in Los Angeles during the DARE shoot. That decision led to him being blackmailed and subsequently tapping the twins school fund.
Lily (Christel Khalil) remains rightfully hesitant to revisit her relationship with Cane. She doesn’t know if he can be trusted at this point. However, she can resolve to not file for divorce indefinitely. With that a chance for this couple and their family to be fully revived would remain possible.
Scott (Daniel Hall) must resolve to make up his mind and fully commit to one of the women he loves, unless he actually only cares for Abby (Melissa Ordway). Sharon (Sharon Case) absolutely does not deserve to be played as she has been in recent months.
Victor (Eric Braeden) is most responsible for the rift between him and his son. Nick (Joshua Morrow) isn’t all right in the current Newman dispute, but he’s not the head of this family.
Fans refer to Victor by many names, but let’s choose just one. This father must resolve to make peace with his son in 2018.
Of course there are plenty of other characters who could be referenced. Valued readers should feel free to make their selection among those were chosen, or those who weren’t.
