The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nick and Chelsea Reconnect – Chick Back On For Now

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nick and Chelsea Reconnect – Chick Back On For NowNick (Joshua Morrow) convinced himself that he’d made a mistake on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) encouraged that thought process and, wa-la, ‘Chick’ was seemingly resurrected.

Some Y&R fans might believe that Nick took what seemed to be a split opportunity and rescued defeat from the jaws of victory. His perceived love match with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) isn’t based on trust, as neither she nor he have been honest with the other on issues that are crucial.

Other daytime devotees are likely happy that Chelsea got her man back, despite having withheld the truth from him about her past and, more importantly, Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity. And with that aforementioned child could be the setup to ‘Chick’s’ eventual downfall.

Are Nick and Chelsea destined to be a longterm couple? Well, as long as executive producer and head writer Mal Young wants them to be then they will. However, just because the Christian issue has been shelved for now doesn’t mean that it’s been written off forever.

And then there’s Nick. He’s the man who knows that Victor (Eric Braeden) aided Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), thereby enabling Adam’s (Justin Hartley) death to eventually occur. So it’s not just Chelsea who’s keeping a deep, dark secret. No, no, Genoa City fans. Lord Nicholas Newman is as well. With that truth have been reinforced, the foundation of this so-called relationship that was created via Hartley’s voluntary departure isn’t strong.

Concocted pairings, as this one was, can work. To their credit, Morrow and Egan are fine actors and have developed believable chemistry. The question is, would Nick and Chelsea be better off with other people?

As of Thanksgiving week, Chelsea and Nick forgave each other for the minor dustup that occurred between them after Hilary (Mishael Morgan) inadvertently exposed Chelsea’s past. The former Miss Lawson, or whatever name she was using at the time, was exposed as a scammer who preyed upon widows.

Moving forward, this duo better hope that their past misdeeds aren’t resurrected. As long as that thin cover holds, ‘Chick’ should be okay.
