The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Jack and Ashley Fight – Graham’s Evil Plan in Peril

She might not like it, but Dina’s (Marla Adams) children are fighting for her on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) suspected Graham’s (Max Shippee) motives from the moment they first met him. Now that he’s set to inherit Dina’s fortune the fight has begun.

Graham’s evil plan to woo Dina and gain her money appears to have worked. She recently had him finalize legal papers with an attorney that changed her will, which awards the bulk of Madame Mergeron’s estate to Graham after she passes on.

Mr. Bloodworth has played quite the dotting dude for Dina during the past year-plus. However, her apparently vulnerable mental state and general lonely existence seems to have been exploited. Why else would she want to leave him all of her loot, instead of just a portion?

Ashley previously held an understandable grudge against her mother. Decades back, as tenured viewers recall, Dina told her daughter that John (Jerry Douglas) wasn’t her biological father. That gut punch created permanent emotional scars that ran parallel to Dina having abandoning her young family.

Finding oneself became a popular ode in the 1960’s. Translated into common sense, it represented a rejection of responsibility in order to pursue eternal Utopia. Yes, destructive philosophies are recycled in any age, as Y&R’s 1980’s storyline showed.

The fact that Ashley has elicited genuine protective feelings in this instance is remarkable. But sometimes a transcendent event is needed to create rapprochement.

Jack always loved his mom and while hurt by her departure, had a different experience with Dina in days of his youth. He went so far as to suggest that Ashley cavort with Graham. When that didn’t work, Jack asked Gloria (Judith Chapman) to do the same.

Together, Jack and Ashley will fight and likely defeat Graham Bloodworth, whether he proves to be Dina’s offspring, or not. When that happens it seems apparent that some definitive assessment of their mother’s mental condition will also be revealed.
