‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Hilary Only Has Hope Left – Devon’s Epiphany Persists

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) loves Devon (Bryton James) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But the effect of all of her actions since arriving in Genoa City, circa 2013, has been cumulative. Characters in the know and plenty of savvy fans can’t blame Devon for distrusting his wife. The fictional and real groups equally realize that Hilary only has hope left for a future with her husband.

New Year’s Eve feels like it was a year ago, instead of seven weeks. The events of that nearly tragic night shifted ‘Hevon’s’ dynamic big league. Yes, a baseball spring training reference is apt within this soap story now that spring training has started.

New viewers might not understand why Devon would use Hilary’s back-and-forth with Mariah as a strike three moment. That petty GC Buzz-based fight wasn’t actually all that dramatic, but it served as an emotional trigger that sent Devon racing recklessly into the night as 2017 dawned.

After being taken to GC Memorial Hospital Devon was physically repaired. However, after he was released and regained his short-term memory, he realized that he’d been driving in a dysfunctional pattern for far too long. Devon tagged ‘Hevon’ as sick from the start and therefore something that couldn’t be salvaged. His wife vehemently disagreed and initially tried to prove him wrong.

Hilary responded to Devon’s epiphany by stating that she would give him a clean divorce and wouldn’t accept a monetary payout. Yet she was unwilling to sign a legal document that prevented her from suing at any future point. Hilary’s response to that request seemed to confirm Devon’s newfound belief that she loved his money more than him.

Some people are unable to accept harsh critiques delivered by family members and friends about one’s perceived soul mate. That’s why it took a near-fatal car crash for Devon to look beyond Hilary’s physical features, to apparently break through the emotional connection they’ve had and see what reactions her actions cause. And that’s why Hilary seemingly only has hope left for a life with Devon.
