Dr. Harris’ (Ron Melendez) self-revealed mental state is a major problem for Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Melendez’ character told a sad story about his wife and daughter having been killed by a drunk driver in the past. Then he advised Chloe that she’s taken the place of his forever teenage child.
One small plot point before we start. Melendez and Hendrickson, along with their characters are approximately the same age (mid-30’s). So, if anything, Chloe is serving as a replacement for his wife not his daughter. But damaged minds roam where they want.
Movement within the storyline can now take place, as Dr. Harris has become more than Victor’s (Eric Braeden) henchman. Instead, he’s a poor soul who took a shine to Chloe because of his own personal history. Yes, the ‘Moustache’ found another quirky guy who seems prone to go berserk soon.
So, Kevin (Greg Rikaart) was allowed to leave Harris’ home. Mr. Fisher proffered the idea that he’d return to Genoa City, get Bella (Gia Poeme) and return to Louisiana. Harris appeared to agree to the plan, but later told Chloe that Kevin was never coming back.
Harris wants Kevin out of the picture and Chloe to remain his permanent resident and replacement daughter. That’s the type of whacky idea Chloe would have created and enforced.

Looking on the bright side, Chloe is now faced with seeing what happens when mental illness goes unchecked. She’ll need to help her doctor heal, or at least hold him at bay until a reunited ‘Khloe’ can be reunited and then escape.
Savvy Y&R fans, who of course read this site with regularity know that Hendrickson and Rikaart have ended their runs on the show. Chloe and Kevin’s last scenes will be projected as the summer unfolds.
Here’s hoping that both solid actors have been given fitting storyline sendoffs that leave viewers with smiles and intriguing open-ended questions. Proper bows are surely deserved and will be applauded in many corners, including this one.
