Cane (Daniel Goddard) thought that his sabotage plan worked on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Collateral damage involving Juliet (Laur Allen) losing her job was seen as regrettable, but necessary. However, ‘Hurricane Hilary’s’ (Mishael Morgan) prodding will result in Cane’s life being thrown into indefinite turmoil.
So, Cane doesn’t like Billy (Jason Thompson). The reasons for that aren’t necessarily steeped in soapy sibling-esque rivalry. Instead, he sees Jill’s (Jess Walton) son as a destructive lout.
When Jill owned Brash and Sassy Cane voluntarily bore the weight of the company. Billy and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) were often cavorting with themselves and others in 2016, which meant that they rarely focused on business matters. That fueled Cane’s belief that he should buy Jill out. He didn’t have the funds, Vickie tapped into her $500 million-plus bank account and became sole owner.
A few months ago Vickie sent Cane to Tokyo, Japan, to seal a deal with Mr. Sato (Richard Narita), who is influential in that retail region of the world. Cane nearly botched a crucial meeting, but Juliet interceded. That duo then partied too hard and unexpectedly paired.
A few weeks ago Cane set Billy up during a Brash and Sassy commercial shoot in California. Cane’s efforts nearly caused the connected Professional Hockey League deal to fall through. Vickie rescued it, but decided to fire Juliet whose rushed efforts allowed unedited footage to air.
Billy’s behind-the-scenes comments about gambling would never have reached the public’s ears if Cane hadn’t bribed a videographer. But Billy and Juliet were made to look bad as a result and, for now no one knows that Cane is the true trouble-maker.

The lawsuit that Hilary is now encouraging Juliet to pursue against Vickie seems likely to unearth Tokyo’s impulse actions and California’s creepy crustaceans. As soon as all is revealed Cane’s personal life will be crushed and his business reputation will be ruined.
Some tenured Y&R viewers are questioning why Cane has been written in this direction. While others are noting that new writing regimes often push enduring characters in different directions. Yes, this bet has been made.
