‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Cane Jealous of Jordan, Chemistry With Lily Undeniable – ‘Lane’ Marriage Problems Coming

‘Lane’ is a longstanding super couple on ‘The Young and the Restless’. However, Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) have surely had their issues through the years. The latest point of potential tension involves Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood), who is a Brash and Sassy photographer Cane hired.

Mr. Ashby didn’t know that Lily and Jordan knew each other. They originally met during a Jabot fashion shoot in the past. Based upon Cane’s perceptions of the chemistry between his wife and this third-party vendor, he certainly would have made a different hiring decision if this choice could be revisited. But Jordan was hired because of his standing within the fashion industry and likely will help the company’s marketing campaign.

Of course, there is no current spark between Lily and Jordan, but devoted fans haven’t forgotten about the Joe Clark (Scott Elrod) situation. Lily and Joe crossed the line during his stay in Genoa City, which was in retaliation for a belief that Cane and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) were involved. That serious relationship issue was eventually resolved, but it took awhile.

Newer viewers might not know that Joe was Avery’s (Jessica Collins) ex-husband. Avery entered the show as Dylan’s (Steve Burton) past girlfriend. While all three characters are no longer in town, this refresher provides a mini-lesson on the interconnectivity of this particular soap world.

Cane’s sensitivity to anything that involves his wife can’t actually be tagged as insecure. Instead he’s actually working off logic and the explosive emotions that rightfully resulted from the rift in ‘Lane’s’ relationship. He’s also currently on edge due to his attempts to buy into, or take hold of Brash and Sassy. So various pressures are coming to bear.

Since Jordan is a new character there’s no way of knowing how matters between he and Lily could play out. The easy pick would be to say that they’ll become involved. Sharp writing would veer in a different direction, instead using this matter to further explore Cane’s mental interiors.
