Vickie (Amelia Heinle) finally reached the point where she was open to Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She openly acknowledged that she wanted her ex-husband back, yet hadn’t told him that directly. But it appears that the revival opportunity ‘Villy’ may have had is over.
Timing often comes into play in real life and on the soaps. In this instance, Billy was seeking reconciliation for months. He’s been fully supportive of Vickie at Brash and Sassy and more importantly, of her efforts with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu). Never known to be patient, Billy was actually biding his time in hopes that Vickie would eventually come around.

Yes, there was an elevator incident with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) awhile back. That seemed to be written off as an impulse action, while Vickie was keeping Billy frozen out. Then through the impetus of Vickie’s latest verbal scolding, Mr. Abbott understandably concluded that he would never have a shot at renewing his family.
In a moment she’ll come to deeply regret, Vickie told Billy that she was never going to get back together with him. He responded by going to Phyllis, where ‘Philly’ then reconciled. The unexpected turn of events surprised many viewers but also established an open point.

Who will Vickie pair with, if anyone? She has no prospects and is the mother of three children, two of whom are Billy’s offspring. Unless Travis Crawford (Michael Roark) returns, or someone with his same accepting sensibilities appears, Miss Newman will remain single.
Of course Vickie’s personal life can be developed. But her choices will likely be shaped in the short-term by ‘Philly’s’ revived reveal. This character’s history makes that initial anticipated reaction probable.

Y&R has smartly written both characters (Vickie and Billy) into fresh territory, where established personal traits are being developed. Vickie is the erratic, impulsive soul. Billy is seeking stability and is the sage parent. Legacy characters remain engaging when believable turns are taken and so the road ahead remains compelling for observant hardcore viewers.
