The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Victor Limits Nick’s Privilege – Both Newman’s Share Blame for Discord

The ‘Moustache’ (Eric Braeden) is no peach, but neither is ‘Prince Nicholas’ (Joshua Morrow) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While Victor has wronged nearly every person in Genoa City, okay, every person, Nick has wronged his father. It’s now undeniable that both Newman alpha males share blame for their dysfunctional relationship.

All background analysis is speculative, both on the soaps and in this view we call reality. So let’s not delve too deeply into Y&R’s past. Instead, squint with this scribe at the last handful of months.

Nick caught Victor meeting with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) at a landing strip located somewhere on the outskirts of Genoa City. That stunner forced the reveal of the ugly revenge plot against Adam (Justin Hartley). No rational person blames Nick for being disgusted at his dad’s actions or for acting to protect Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) by informing them immediately thereafter.

Now move the cursor to Nikki’s charity benefit concert and let the video play. Nick opts for sabotage because he feels his mother is physically unable to perform and that Victor has been coercing her to tinkle the ivory’s.

While he can’t see it, Nick behaved as his father often has. Yes, the distinction between having Chloe released early from a mental health facility, so that she could frame Adam and then apparently kill him (on her own accord) and Nick manipulating matters is understood. But a point has been firmly made.

Victor’s genetics and influence have helped to shape Nick’s perceptions and actions. Nick hasn’t done nearly as many bad things as his father has, but is similarly entitled.

Now that Victor has cut off his first-born son and is systematically limiting his privilege, Nick is sure to respond. That, again will be the type of thing that the ‘Black Knight’ does.

As the father, Victor is of course more responsible for this damaged family connection. But Nick’s own actions can’t be ignored, or put aside.
