The doors to the elevator opened revealing Billy (Jason Thompson) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Vickie (Amelia Heinle) was aghast. How dare her ex-husband, who she’s rejected on countless occasions be back in ‘Philly’.

Viewers knew that Billy and Phyllis were back together for a few weeks. After a few occasions of rapprochement in past months, ‘Philly’ chose to reunite after two specific incidents occurred.
The first involved Vickie sternly telling Billy that they were never going to get back together, as though he was a boy on the playground. Learning that Bella (Cali May Kinder) wasn’t his biological child also allowed Billy to make this important decision on his own.

Vickie took Billy for granted. All observers who are now ready to list the many moral missteps Billy has made through the years must now be confronted.
While their factual recollections regarding his past actions stand as legitimate warning signs for this, or for any future reconnection this one-time couple may have, those remembrances also represent history.
Using Thompson’s version of this character, Billy has actually been a generally decent man. He’s consistently backed Vickie’s role as the mother of his two children (one by birth, the other by adoption) and as importantly, her interactions with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu). Since she bought Brash and Sassy from Jill (Jess Walton), he’s also strongly supported Vickie’s business leadership.
All viewers haven’t forgotten that Vickie recently chose to lie to Billy about her mother having had a Multiple Sclerosis relapse in order to cover for Victor’s (Eric Braeden) latest revealed crimes. That point, her sporadic ingratitude where Reed issues were concerned and various other me-first incidents have turned Vickie into Miss Inconsistent. Yes, she’s flipped roles with Billy at this point in Y&R’s time line.
All is not lost, as is often the case in soap opera land. It’s always possible that ‘Villy’ somehow reunites, or that Phyllis ditches Billy, or the reverse. But if ‘Philly’ remains intact and even eventually marries, Vickie will only have herself to blame, not Billy this time.
