The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tessa Blossoming Into Major Player – Cait Fairbanks Succeeds

Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) arrived in Genoa City earlier this year on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She quickly ingratiated herself into the Newman clan and thus appeared to be developing into a key player. Now, as fall arrives all fans know that are watching the potential emergence of a longterm character as well.

Side personas are needed on soap operas. Not everyone plays lead. But solid casting affords gifted actors an opportunity to resonate with the audience as they interact with other prime members of the on-screen team.

Fairbanks interpretation of her alter ego has been strong. The vulnerability, demonstrated through this actor’s range is evident during each episode that Tessa appears in. She’s likeable, interesting, quirky and mysterious in an upbeat way.

Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) initial discovery of Tessa outside Crimson Lights telegraphed something special. Mrs. Newman’s pairing of Miss Porter with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) laid groundwork for what has become a fun musical arc.

Devon’s (Bryton James) eye for talent is being projected through the streaming service division he’s launched through his upstart Hamilton-Winters Group. Y&R has nicely revived part of Devon’s backstory in doing so, as Tucker’s (Stephen Nichols) past guidance in this creative area previously created a memorable storyline.

Noah’s (Robert Adamson) nearly instant romantic connection with Tessa naturally led him to feature her at The Underground’s Open Mic nights. Viewers recently heard him say that he wants her to be the opening act at each of The Underground spinoffs across the country as well.

Y&R’s choice to pair her with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) allowed each person to have a close friend and later allowed the current pursuit of Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) to unfold. The connection between Tessa and Mariah also set up a bold gamble.

The manner in which their potentially interlinked personal storyline is handled should prove to be intriguing on a number of levels. With whatever happens, Fairbanks has already exhibited the chops to succeed. Sometimes the right part is written and the best person is hired. Both are true in this instance.
