The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon’s Character Made Stronger – Genoa City is Improved

Sharon (Sharon Case) is leading the charge on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Most importantly, she’s a good mother to her children. But Genoa City’s 2017 edition of this character has also bonded with a decent guy, is hot on the trail of a poor soul who’s been abducted, as Sharon learned through the volunteer work she’s doing at the Crisis Center. She’s also running her own business and is enrolled in college classes. Many longtime fans of Y&R, this actor and the character couldn’t be more pleased in all regards.

The flighty, unpredictable, often times irrational, self-defeating, perpetual victim is gone. Yes, it was as exhausting to write and to read the description of who Case’s character was for approximately a decade. So let’s focus on the now.

In the recent past Sharon could have been one of the women who was being taken advantage of by the criminal ring that’s invaded GC. Today, she’s working with Scott (Daniel Hall) and cajoling Paul (Doug Davidson) to bring it down. The return of Alice (Tamara Clatterbuck) jet-packs this storyline into the stratosphere.

Dylan (Steve Burton) was a good guy, but Sharon moved past him. Her connection with Scott was organic and evidenced a matured sense of reality, as Sharon didn’t allow the past to paralyze her.

The healthy relationship she’s forged with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) is very satisfying. Grimes return allowed a piece of the show’s soul, along with Sharon’s to be restored.

It’s great to see Sharon running Crimson Lights. That’s where she initially spent so much time during ‘Shick’s’ glory days. Today, it serves as well-run business that underscores Sharon’s intelligence and sense of balance.

Y&R has yet to develop the college aspect of Sharon’s rebuilt world. After the current Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) arc plays out, it would be interesting to see if Sharon gains a degree and how she applies it.

That advanced education setting would seem like another opportunity for Sharon to demonstrate her normalcy, which is what this feature underscores. For far too many years Y&R wrote Sharon into soapy corners.

To her credit, Case has always been visible through all the incarnations of Sharon. She made something out of whatever scripts were provided. Case maintained the respect of all savvy audience members along the way and has again been given a chance to work within uplifting storylines. May that plan continue indefinitely.
