Some people believe that they need to tell Sharon (Sharon Case) what to do on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This group exists on both sides of the screen, as various characters and fans believe they know what’s best for her. That’s why it’s not surprising that many opinions are being offered about Sharon’s move from Dylan (Steve Burton) to Scott (Daniel Hall).

No comparison is exact, but it’s fair to say that Hall took Burton’s cast slot and that Scott has taken Dylan’s woman. Of course some may feel it necessary to say that Dylan was Sharon’s man. Yes, modern world semantics do reveal the emotionally-based logic that has been drilling down since Y&R premiered in 1973.

Longtime fans know that Sharon is clearly in a much better place now than she was a year ago. The Sully (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) secret was being held at that time, which was a very bad mistake. Sully was eventually revealed to have always been Christian.
That little boy’s name was referenced because Sharon stopped obsessing about him months ago. After Dylan opted to explore the ‘Miami Vice’ aspect of his personality and then subsequently need to enter the Witness Protection Problem, Sharon was left with a choice. Repeat her pattern of collapsing, or roll with the rewrite that co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman and her team created.
Kudos to Sussman for restoring Sharon to normal human being status. Case’s character is no longer a stereotype of a mentally ill person. Instead Sharon has restored herself to the bright woman viewers once knew years ago. Those who’ve been kicking Y&R’s latest head writer rarely mention this long-requested change because it counters their narrative.
All who feel Sharon should remain single sound like Nick (Joshua Morrow), who deemed himself Sharon’s protector for many years. This Sharon doesn’t need protection, or pounds of advice. She’s doing alright and simply wants to grow closer to Scott. Give her that, alright?
