The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon and Nick Join Forces – Past Fuels Future Again

Sharon (Sharon Case) is onto Alice (Tamara Clatterbuck) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Nick (Joshua Morrow) was reluctant to believe what the first love of his life was directly stating about the woman who once adopted Cassie (Camryn Grimes), but he’s come around. No it’s not the late 1990’s on Y&R, but a new storyline that’s playing out in 2017.

Tenured Y&R fans, along with all soap opera devotees know that the past is often mined in daytime. That’s why the current arc that involves Sharon, Nick and Alice is acceptable.

Y&R Star Sharon Case News And Updates

In the real world someone like Alice would never cross paths with the former ‘Shick’. But in Genoa City all is possible, including Miss Johnson choosing to be involved with a criminal ring. Shouldn’t she have laid low, instead of flaunting herself publicly, including her having bailed two young ladies out of jail at the GC Police Department? Of course, but let’s push forward with the show.

Sharon’s instincts are fully on the mark, which Nick now understands. Seeing these characters pairing up again was a bone thrown by Sally Sussman and her outgoing writing team to hardcore Y&R viewers. As savvy readers of this site and viewers of the show know, the former co-executive producer and head writer is said to have retired during the summer. The final shows she oversaw are playing out into October.

It will be interesting to see how executive producer and now head writer Mal Young chooses to pursue this particular plot path, or how long he allows it to flow. Various longtime fans who loved ‘Shick’ would like to see the couple reunited, but are also grateful for these mini-storyline moments where they’ve been temporarily paired.

Alice clearly must be made to see Mariah (also Camryn Grimes) at some point in order to fully touch the past. Clatterbuck’s place in one of Y&R’s greatest storylines from the 1990’s has been nicely honored by her character’s reprisal. Here’s hoping Alice is part of a satisfying storyline climax.
