Scott (Daniel Hall) did something unexpected on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He openly admitted to Sharon (Sharon Case) and without any provocation, that he was recruited to work in intelligence gathering in the past. That information dump greatly increased odds that ‘Shott’ has a chance to succeed and continued the rebuild of Case’s character as well.

Many soap opera couples begin their relationships with various looming issues hanging invisibly above their plot lines.
That scenario appeared to be the case in this instance. But instead of Sharon holding secrets, Scott’s undercover operative background seemed to serve as the sword of Damocles.
Chris (Lauralee Bell) recently was revealed as Scott’s intelligence contact, which then showed viewers what this revived character’s unseen history was. Her ongoing urging probably means that Scott will relent to his aunt’s insistence and return to working for the government again.
Scott’s honesty allows his relationship with Sharon to instantly deepen. His stated respect for her enabled that part of his backstory to be shared. Now both likeable characters are primed to have their budding romance bloom this spring and flourish by summer.
A major shift for Case’s character took place after Dylan (Steve Burton) was written out. She’s no longer the needy, unhinged victim. No, 2017’s Sharon reminds tenured viewers of the strong woman they grew to love in the mid-1990s, when Case first debuted.
Another intriguing aspect that’s been written into this storyline is the type of assignment that Scott is being offered. Untoward female trafficking is an underserved issue in today’s world. Exposing the horrors connected to this crime will raise awareness.
The soaps regularly used their platforms as vehicles to highlight selected social issues deemed as underserved in past years. Co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman’s link to the Bill Bell era could mean that she’s pushing Y&R back to its social conscience storyline formulas. If so, meaningful arcs will replace imaginative escapist fantasy that became the bane of some viewer’s existence in recent years.
