Nothing came of this high school verbal battle, but Kendall accomplished what she wanted. Reed recognized why his future girlfriend summoned him to the coffee house and curtly told her that as he left. Yes, ‘Keed’s’ appears like his next stop.
Zoe is all about being popular. That’s the goal in a pop culture world. Of course to follow pop(ular) with the world culture (cult) is revealing. But hey, this is a soap column. It’s not meant to solve all the world’s problems. So back to the kids.
Many viewers can surely relate to being one of the four characters presented during this episode. Reed is the cool guy, who all the girls love. Well, at least he thought that Zoe did.
Kendall is the girl next door, who’s playing the long game. She’s the friend of the pretty girl (Zoe).
Charlie is the new kid in town. He magically aged 10 years within the last few months. All soapy kidding aside, he’s the jock. A lacrosse player who Zoe glammed onto, while also wanting to keep Reed around.

The theory used to be that real life fans of the same age would be more likely to watch their favorite soap if fresh characters in their age range were being presented as school was ready to let out.
Today’s audience does have some younger viewers. But the bulk of Y&R’s audience relates to characters like Reed, Kendall, Zoe and Charlie as though they were their grandchildren, children, nieces, or nephews.
Each of the young actors referenced have already reached a level of show business success that many in the industry will never attain. They’re talented and possibly, connected. Here’s wishing all of them continued success as they ply their developing trade on the set of Y&R.
