‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Phyllis’ Poaching Attempt Fails – Ravi Still Vulnerable

Ravi (Abhi Sinha) comes across as a pour soul on ‘The Young and the Restless’ because he is. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) attempted to take advantage of his naivete and was making progress with her plan. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) caught wind of Ravi’s luncheon with the former ‘Red’ and hightailed it to the Top of the Towers. Jabot’s second in command was able to block Phyllis’ recruitment effort, this time.

Leaving a sticky note on the front of one’s computer screen isn’t advisable if discretion is intended. But Ravi’s magic-markered reminder about meeting Phyllis for lunch at ‘TOTT’ allowed Ashley to know exactly where he was, what he was doing and who he was doing it with.

Ashley sternly reminded Phyllis that she recently claimed to love Jack (Peter Bergman) and the cruddy job he created for her at Jabot. Now, after a seeming total about face, she had departed for Fenmore’s and was trying to poach one of her rival’s former employees. How duplicitous! How old-school Phyllis!

The introduction of the Ravi character has been welcomed, as he often injects an element of genuine levity into various scenes. While there are other humorous personalities on the show, the addition of this new cast member and Sinha’s alter ego is fitting nicely into Genoa City’s restoration.

Notice that restoration, rather than renovation, was used as the final word in the last digital frame. Ashley, in particular, is a great character who has been under-served for years. Writing her back to regularity does reflect Davidson’s availability to work on Y&R, but it also reflects the philosophy of Sally Sussman as well. Restore what worked for decades, while also adding complimentary cast members and the personas they’ll embody.

It will be interesting to see if Ravi stays put at Jabot. His crush on Ashley was previously revealed and addressed. That emotional connection could continue to outweigh his future pursuit of career gains, unless hostile takeover measures render that choice moot.

Fenmore’s is fighting for survival, as Lauren (Tracey Bregman) tries to avoid crawling back to Jack. However, if she’s forced to do so Phyllis might get her computer man after all. Though that wouldn’t happen under preferred circumstances.
