The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis and Billy Back As Top Couple – A Philly Marriage In The Future?

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) are back together on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Their disagreement proved temporary, which likely wasn’t welcomed by anti-‘Philly’ fans. Yes, one of Genoa City’s top couples is solid.

Many in the viewing audience rightfully felt that these two particular characters weren’t well-suited back when Burgess Jenkins was ending his run as Billy. That’s when his version of Mr. Abbott and Phyllis began flirting. Then Thompson was recast to fill this role in 2016, and ‘Philly’ went full-throttle.

The efforts of Tognoni and Thompson have won over many daytime devotees, as their character’s collaborative on-screen chemistry is engaging. It must also be said that the versions that are being offered of these personas are different than when Michelle Stafford and Billy Miller played Phyllis and Billy respectively.

Executive producer and head writer Mal Young has seemingly cemented Phyllis and Billy as one of Y&R’s top couples. He’s written Vickie (Amelia Heinle) away from her multiple-time husband and Phyllis is long past Jack (Peter Bergman). So no romantic rivals appear to exist for either party right now.

Billy needs a job, as he’s just been ousted by Vickie from the Newman Enterprises rebrand of Brash and Sassy. Whether Ashley (Eileen Davidson), the acting CEO at Jabot, and Jack allow their brother to return to the company isn’t an easy question to answer as Billy carries baggage wherever he goes. His professional consistency also leaves a lot to be desired.

Would Jabot be better with someone like Billy on board? Then consider how his daily interactions with Phyllis in the workplace would go over.

Yet, with whatever develops for Billy career-wise, there’s no doubt that ‘Philly’ is solid romantically as of December 2017. Billy should soon move out of his next-door temporary bachelor pad and back into Phyllis’ condo as well.

Who knows maybe Billy will even pop the marriage question to his current soul mate at some point in the near future. Unlike one of the ‘Villy’ ceremonies, he probably won’t ask that the wedding day include a double-tattoo’d ring ceremony.
