Victor (Eric Braeden) changed his demeanor after Adam (Justin Hartley) died on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Now, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is adjusting how she’ll interact with her husband. The dramatic fallout involving Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) recent admission resulted in ‘Niktor’s’ relationship taking an unexpected turn.
Nikki was strategically standing by the ‘Moustache’s’ portrait inside Newman Towers. She delivered her message to Victor, who was perched behind his desk. In public, they would put on airs. But behind closed doors, Victor would no longer be a member of the family.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t know about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) true paternity. Victor does, hasn’t told his son and previously advised Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) to remain silent. Adam is believed to be that boy’s biological father. Whether that’s actually true seems suspect. However, that’s the storyline Y&R has pushed.
It was very wise of Nikki to convince Nick not to tell Paul (Doug Davidson) about his father’s crimes. Vickie was also swayed to keep this secret. Nikki knows that all things Newman would be damaged if Victor is ever charged with the crimes he’s admitted to, including his recruitment of Chloe to frame Adam.
Whether she would concede this point now, as she has in the past, Nikki’s actions and words have been strongly influenced by the ‘Great Man’ himself. She is right to not impulsively separate herself from him again. In the back of her mind and the front of her heart, Nikki is doing what’s best for everyone, including Victor.
The new approach she’s taken doesn’t look exactly like the other faces she’s worn in the past. Making Victor walk a strict chalk line might work this time. He’s admitted to being at fault and fully blames himself for what’s happened. That actually represents progress on his part.

Both factors give Nikki’s response a shot to be successful. Shot probably wasn’t the best choice of words, considering Chloe’s dart gun, but devoted viewers understand this message.
