The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick’s Actions Were Well-intentioned – Victor’s Reputation Proceeds Him

It would be easy to chide Nick (Joshua Morrow) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Simply looking at his behind-the-scenes actions a day before the charity concert would seemingly reveal him as a goof. But all Y&R fans know who Nick’s father is and that alters this assessment.

Yes, it wasn’t right that Nick sabotaged the sound board in hopes of dashing Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) performance. He did that because he felt his mother wasn’t strong enough emotionally or physically to play the piano at the Multiple Sclerosis related benefit that was scheduled for Chancellor Park.

However, he knew that Nikki had been struggling in recent weeks as the result of another MS flare-up and due to stress. Combine that with Victor’s (Eric Braeden) insistence that Nikki push herself to play, which was Nick’s read on his dad’s efforts, and those who aren’t familiar with these players might reach a misguided conclusion.

Victor had become more mellow as 2017 began. He opted to semi-retire from Newman Enterprises, turning the keys over to Abby (Melissa Ordway) who has been test driving his CEO chair.

Victor was also far more family oriented than he’d been in a long time, hosting a series of family dinners at the Ranch and seeking to make amends with many people who he’d wronged.

During this period of time Nick began investigating a few curious matters. Eventually he learned that Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Victor were connected. Nick confronted the ‘Black Knight’ and shared that information with Nikki and his sister Victoria (Amelia Heinle).

As a result Nikki told her children that they would maintain a positive public front in order to preserve appearances, but behind closed doors Victor would be disdained. Thus the recent backstory that prompted Nick’s actions, which should elicit understanding among those who weren’t familiar with the one and only Victor Christian Newman.

The resultant fallout from Nick’s actions and Victor’s later awareness of it, along with the specific insertion of the patriarch’s middle name in the preceding sentence establishes the next skirmish.
