Nick (Joshua Morrow) wants Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to be happy on ‘The Young and the Restless’. So he took the initiative and dropped his ex-wife in the digital dating pool. This resilient woman surely has the strength to swim regardless of the conditions she’s placed into.
It’s nice to see ‘Phick’ getting along so well. That wasn’t always the case, as longtime viewers know. While the battles between Nick and Phyllis were nothing compared to ‘Shick’s’ dilemmas, there were some divisive issues that needed to be worked through.

The bond between Nick and Phyllis crushed ‘Shick’s’ marriage during one of the more controversial storylines in modern times. However, Summer (Hunter King) was a positive product of ‘Phick’s’ union. And ‘Supergirl’s’ existence helped this former super couple to find common ground and eventually, friendship again.
The ‘Philly’ debacle was known throughout Genoa City. Writing Phyllis away from Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) seems wise. Sally Sussman and her team have repositioned all three characters. As for Phyllis and Billy, their romantic connection (if it can be tagged in that manner) didn’t fit either character’s history and was panned by vocal audience members.
Compassion and concern were key when Nick encouraged Phyllis to put herself out there again. He did so during a rave held at The Underground, where she and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) were celebrating a masterful agreement with Jabot that allowed Mrs. Fenmore-Baldwin to remain in charge of her family’s company.

The scene at Nick’s nightclub, which was rebuilt after collapsing in the recent past, was fun. It was cool to project a variety of characters enjoying themselves in a light-hearted setting. The effect continues Y&R’s ongoing effort to relate to its current audience, while also honoring legacy viewers.
Phyllis is smart, highly attractive and engaging. But this lady does have a tangled backstory as she would readily acknowledge. So it will be interesting to see what prospects, or other elements are attracted to Miss Summer’s profile and how she handles those candidates as well.
