‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: New Scotty Appears – Lauren’s First-born Son Held For $10 Million Ransom

'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: New Scotty Appears – Lauren's First-born Son Held For $10 Million RansomDaniel Hall (Scotty Grainger) was seen for the first time this week on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Y&R’s recast revives a character who hasn’t been spotted since 2006, when Blair Redford last embodied him. Current developments will allow Lauren’s first-born son to return to Genoa City in the flesh soon. As of now, Y&R fans have simply been shown photos of the adult Hall was hired to play.

Hardcore soap fans suspected that the Scotty character was returning before facts confirmed the point last month.

Dialogue that stretches to reference someone who’s been gone for awhile doesn’t always prove that a character will be written back into the show.

Consider Noah’s (Robert Adamson) recent mention of Marisa, who’s apparently has been written out.

In contrast a storyline is being built around Scotty’s whereabouts, which has led to a $10 million ransom demand.

Scotty, who is the son of the late Scott Grainger (Peter Barton), has been transformed into a journalist who was apparently working in a danger zone somewhere in the world.

He was at the unknown location reporting on the refugee crisis. One isn’t over-thinking matters to tentatively believe that Y&R has chosen to inject the proper (or abused) role of the media in society into this fictional world.

Fake soap storyline? Well, the answer to that question might depend upon one’s personality-based perception of reality. However, daytime drama once prided itself on addressing modern issues, rather than solely projecting otherworldly escapism.

So fair-minded viewers (which is a purposely subjective phrase) will wait to see how the renewed Scotty character plays out before deciding what the objective was in making him a member of the Fourth Estate.

On a different note, kudos to Sally Sussman for offering the great Tracey Bregman (Lauren) meaty work. The long-time Y&R stalwart deserved deeper scripts to play off in recent years.

This developing storyline, along with concurrent Fenmore’s matters will give Bregman ongoing chances to demonstrate her talent and ageless visual charm.
