Victor (Eric Braeden) advised Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and consoled Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. His daughter-in-law and granddaughter surely benefited from what they heard. And this approach continued to project Victor’s evolving image as Genoa City’s heartened sage.

After noticing that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea appeared to have grown closer, Victor asked Adam’s (Justin Hartley) widow if she and his other son were dating. She said she’d rather not talk about it, after which Victor offered a surprising retort. He told Chelsea that it was time to move forward, seemingly implying that he approved of ‘Chick’.

Another important issue was resurrected when Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) was referenced. Victor also stressed that he thought it best that Chelsea maintain Adam’s confidence and refrain from telling Nick that Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) wasn’t his son.
Mrs. Newman said that she was conflicted because, while Adam asked her to withhold that paternity secret, circumstances had changed. Adam thought Christian had died at the time and his thinking surely would have been influenced after that revelation occurred. Plus, he never considered that she would eventually become involved with his brother romantically. Nevertheless, Victor asked her to keep that confidence because of the pain it would cause Nick.
Later in the same episode Victor had another heart-to-heart with Faith, who saw her dad and Chelsea kissing when she entered the family get-together. They talked through how Sharon’s (Sharon Case) Sully secret affected Nick’s trust and how her mom once hoped that Nick and Chelsea would date each other.

Egan is wisely using what Sally Sussman’s writing team is offering, as Chelsea moves in a slightly different direction. Her developing relationship with Nick is far less frenetic than life ever was with Adam. This potential pairing offers interesting potential, after appearing to be an initial mismatch.
Lind delivers exceptional performances on a regular basis. A fine child actor who rivals Camryn Grimes’ legendary efforts as Cassie. And, of course, Braeden remains his same iconic self through every episode that he appears in.
