The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Neil Offers To Betray Jack’s Trust – Friendship Falls To Opportunity?

Neil (Kristoff St. John) told Ashley (Eileen Davidson) that he’d help her to fight Jack (Peter Bergman) for control of Jabot on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This from the man who begged Mr. Abbott to be part of their non-profit addition foundation. But it’s also fair to counter that Neil is actually on the side of good.

Ashley has been rightfully suspicious of Jack for awhile. His strange choice of corporate secretary simply couldn’t be overlooked. Ashley’s instinct informed her that Jack’s hiring of Gloria (Judith Chapman) made no sense and had to be connected to some type of blackmail. She’ll be proven right shortly and that will then allow Hades to break loose in the business district of Genoa City.

Mr. Winters opted out of the corporate game a few years ago. As stalwart Y&R viewers recall, he wore a tie daily and did whatever Victor (Eric Braeden) asked of him for many years when he held a top position at Newman Enterprises.

A desire to reenter the world of big business might be affecting Neil’s considerations, or he recognizes that Jack once again is acting recklessly.

With however Neil’s offer plays out, Jack is going to feel betrayed as soon as he learns that someone who he considered to be a friend enabled Ashley to stick a knife through the back of his suit jacket. Of course Jack has never been able to see that he’s his own worst enemy. And becoming involved with Gloria goes well beyond the pale.

Allowing ‘Gloworm’ to gain personal leverage over him (Jack) put Jabot in danger. So in reality Ashley is actually acting in the best interests of the family business. Neil’s offer to help her neutralize Jack will certainly be viewed as duplicitous by the current CEO of Jabot. Many others could argue that Neil is helping Ashley to protect her corporate interests and her family’s welfare. This scribe thinks those people are right.
