The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Mariah Reappears on Kevin’s Radar – Does Devon Romance Stand A Chance?

As long as Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) was in town, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) didn’t have a chance with Kevin (Greg Rikaart) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But the stunning Adam (Justin Hartley) reveal that just played out forced Miss Mitchell to fly out of town on Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) private jet. That whirlwind creates an opportunity for ‘Keriah’ to be tried again.

Now Mariah and Devon (Bryton James) shouldn’t be immediately dismissed. While that burgeoning relationship is real, Devon is still recovering from ‘Hevon’. Getting over Hilary (Mishael Morgan) will likely take awhile, as she remains in his heart and head. Mariah values Devon’s friendship and is attracted to him. So she’s likely to give him time and space while slowly pursuing this developing romantic interest.

The ever-impressive Grimes continues to develop a character that’s distinctly different than Cassie (her original and very famous Y&R persona). Mariah was spotted by Victor at Crimson Lights in 2014, after she arrived in Genoa City hoping to reconnect with her former boyfriend Tyler (Redaric Williams).

Obviously created to be the anti-Cassie, the ‘Moustache’ used this seeming doppelganger to gaslight Sharon (Sharon Case). At the time Sharon was believed to be holding a secret. Later and separately, Mariah was confirmed to be Sharon’s biological daughter and Cassie’s twin. She had been stolen from Sharon at birth through a plot orchestrated by Ian Ward (played by the incredibly talented character actor Ray Wise).

Kevin and Mariah came to see each other as kindred spirits, having both lived through bizarre childhoods. Their friendship developed into an attempted romantic relationship. She didn’t feel it would work and Kevin later agreed. However, Chloe’s return to town sparked Mariah to project protective feelings where Kevin was concerned.

Even though Chloe encouraged Kevin to pursue a relationship with Mariah, she later pursued a reunion with him herself. As Y&R fans now know, that led to Kevin suffering another major heartbreak. So now that ‘Khloe’ is over ‘Keriah’ can’t be ruled out.
