The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Lily Unable To Stand By Her Man – Cane’s Behavior Forces Issue

No, this isn’t about what Lily (Christel Khalil) did with Joe (Scott Elrod) two years ago on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Citing that situation dodges what Cane has done this year in Tokyo, Los Angeles and Genoa City. All of his actions have made it hard for Lily to stand by her man, a phrase that remains apt for all who understand that love isn’t politics.

Again, let’s keep the focus on Cane’s actions, not Lily’s. Pointing to bad behavior as an excuse for bad behavior, or as the reason why Lily must forgive all that Cane has done engages in emotional logic, which isn’t logic at all.

Cane told Lily about the harassment suit, but he didn’t tell her all of the details that were linked to Juliet’s claim. That was wrong. Of course it would have been difficult to voluntarily divulge those facts to his wife, but that’s what an honest man would have done.

Viewers know that Cane has been off-balance since his knee surgery. Unless it’s subsequently revealed that he’s been abusing prescription pain pills, there will be no rational justification for what he’s done in 2017. Cane’s free will choice to have become addicted to medication would still make him responsible for his subsequent actions. But at least there would be a plausible explanation for his erratic behavior to-date.

Allowing himself to drink all those sake bombs was reckless. Whatever happened later that night and into the morning hasn’t been fully revealed. But Cane opted to behave as he did and severe consequences followed.

Y&R fans also haven’t forgotten the outrageous decision Cane made to sabotage Billy (Jason Thompson) in Los Angeles during the DARE shoot. That reveal is yet to come and will only make Cane look worse.

Savvy readers see that this piece was centered on Cane’s actions. He’s the one under the spotlight, not Lily. Her faith in him is being tested. Lily’s reaction isn’t the problem.
