Juliet’s (Laur Allen) health scare was diagnosed as placenta accreta on ‘The Young and the Restless’. That potentially life-threatening issue, for the baby and his mother, means that Cane (Daniel Goddard) is now deeply tied to someone other than Lily (Christel Khalil).
As viewers saw, Juliet quickly pushed out some tears in order to play off Cane’s emotions. That exaggerated display was part of a pattern she ‘s been using to reel in the man she loves. Whenever those scenes play out, Allen effectively presents Juliet as a high school girl who’s gushing after her varsity letter wearing boyfriend.
Regarding adult matters, Juliet is pregnant. The boy is believed to be Cane’s child until proven otherwise and this health issue is scary. Along with each point noted is another clear fact. Juliet will do whatever is necessary to keep Cane close by.

Lily has naturally been thrown by this entire, unexpectedly curve arc. Who wouldn’t be?
As she moves closer to Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) the odds of of ‘Lane’ lasting seems increasingly longer. Lily was willing to give Cane plenty of leeway. Actually, her compassion abounded until Billy (Jason Thompson) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) told Lily about Jessie (Max Adler).
Sadly, ‘Lane’ was one of Y&R’s stable families. Some viewers must be wondering why this soap appears to be writing total dysfunction into each character’s life? Is the theme reflective of an agenda, implying that daytime viewers will only watch battles, rather than loving family matters?
Algernon Wilbur will be born sometime around the Christmas season. For those who missed the comic touch that was included in the pre-placenta incident, that baby name was proposed by Juliet. Cane instantly rejected it, but then was advised that is was just a joke.

Of course ‘Flowers for Algernon’ is a classic short story that was written by Daniel Keyes and published in 1959. The health issue in that story links to Juliet’s concern in a loose way, but was worth including in this feature as a nugget for readers who may be familiar with Keyes’ work.
