The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Juliet is Cane’s Future – Lily Slipping Away

Cane (Daniel Goddard) isn’t ready to accept the inevitable on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Juliet (Laur Allen) is having his child and will become the most important woman in his life, unless new evidence changes that projection. As for Lily (Christel Khalil), well, she’s slipping away day by day.

‘Lane’ has been one of Y&R’s most solid couples through the years. Yes, Cane faked his death years ago and Lily cavorted with Joe (Scott Elrod) awhile back. But this is soap and therefore those instances can be tagged as part of Genoa City’s flavor.

In a move that was first telegraphed last year, Cane and Lily began drifting apart. Actually, the distance was completely initiated by Mr. Ashby’s out of character behavior.

This scribe has often pushed himself to see all sides of Y&R’s plot lines. Offering benefit of the doubt on various occasions because he and many other viewers recognizes the grind of a year-round soap necessitates extended storylines and the need to provide viewers with fresh perspectives. Whew, that type of exhausting explanation becomes necessary when a storyline feels pushed.

‘Lane’s’ split didn’t happen because of Juliet’s pregnancy. Lily was willing to overlook the set of circumstances that lead into that. But when Billy (Jason Thompson) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) told Lily that Cane paid Jesse (Max Adler) to sabotage the DARE commercial shoot, which revealed where the SORAS’d twins school tuition had gone, it was time to kick Goddard’s character out of the house. That concocted add-on went too far.

In the meantime, Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) has been a solid friend to Lily. He had no way of knowing that Cane was a lout. But because he’s offered trust, Lily now has a real option and appears to be taking it.

All speculation about Juliet’s baby not being Cane’s is respected. But for now viewers must go with the assumption that her child is his. Doing so allows the audience to follow this arc, which appears to be creating two new couples. ‘Jane’ and ‘Jily’, or ‘Culiet’ and ‘Lordan’ if one prefers.
