The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Jack Stays Strong – Won’t Let Phyllis Reel Him Back In

Burned twice on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Yes, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) could actually claim more than two times where Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is concerned. But let’s be generous to the lady who was once known as ‘Red’.

Jack ended his marriage, but didn’t sever his relationship with Phyllis months ago. He kept her at Jabot, per her wishes as part of a smooth divorce agreement. That decision seemed odd, but made soapy sense as the resulting tension has afforded many instances of rich dialogue between both characters.

Phyllis has been open about having moved on with her life after the fallout from the ‘Philly’ debacle. It was that terrible, terrible, okay one more time, terrible choice that led to Miss Summer’s banishment from Mr. Abbott’s world. And no one could blame him, including the lady in question herself.

She’s been exploring online dating options and has devoted many hours to work. Jack is genuinely pleased with his ex-wife’s efforts now that she’s reconnected to Jabot through the Fenmore’s merger. That was another plot device which allowed conflict to persist between the former ‘Phack’.

So Phyllis was in Jack’s office this week. They had a rather civil conversation and another attempt was made to open that emotional door. Phyllis asked Jack to join her for a bite to eat. He tipped his head upward, said nothing for a moment and then declined.

Smart move ‘Jackie-boy’. As he knows, it’s not that Phyllis doesn’t love him. She does. It’s also not that he doesn’t love her. He does. Instead, Jack’s month’s ago conclusion still holds. They’re not right for each other anymore. Whether they ever were is debatable as well.

For her part, Phyllis should also avoid Jack’s brother. Billy’s (Jason Thompson) true love is Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and he’s nearly earned his way back into her heart. Any further mistakes made with Phyllis could easily cost him another chance at reviving ‘Villy’. He would never forgive himself for doing that. Plus, he might blame Phyllis and she doesn’t need that on top of everything else that’s transpired within the last year.
