Jack (Peter Bergman) devious plan appears to be working on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While he allowed Gloria (Judith Chapman) to be employed at Jabot and to have been his romantic partner in the recent past, Mr. Abbott has also been playing the long game. Jack has been waiting to use Gloria in exactly the right situation, which seems to have just appeared.
Dina’s (Marla Adams) announcement that she’s leaving the bulk of her estate to Graham (Max Shippee) put dollar signs in Gloria’s eyes. Jack had previously asked her if she would get close to Mr. Bloodworth in an attempt to extract information from him.
In yet another one of Chapman’s memorable scenes, Gloria spoke with Graham in a Genoa City sauna. While doing so, she commiserated with Dina’s companion and came to feel compassion for him. She later told Jack that she wouldn’t be his mole.
Later that week Jack strategically told Gloria that Graham is now in line to inherit the bulk of his mother’s fortune, thereby eventually making him a very rich man. That revelation overrode Gloria’s senses, as she saw the opportunity to regain the good life.
Dina will instantly take notice if Gloria makes inroads into Graham’s heart and his schedule. Considering a recent flicker of jealousy, it stands to reason that if that relationship (‘Gro’?) develops, Graham would put his future financial status in jeopardy.
Dina is vulnerable and stubborn. She could easily change her will again if she feels that Graham isn’t offering her his full attention. Yes, Mr. Bloodworth could be disinherited and loose his comfortable job as well.
As Y&R viewers recall, Jack infamously twice blocked Gloria from receiving her portion of John’s (Jerry Douglas) fortune. Gloria apparently can’t see what Jack seems to be doing, as Graham’s personal and financial appeal are blinding her better judgment. This is exactly the type of situation that Jack anticipated, which is one of the reasons why he agreed to allow the unlikely ‘Glack’ to exist.
