Ashley (Eileen Davidson) runs circles around her brother when it comes to business on ‘The Young and the Restless’. So why is that goof still lingering in Jabot’s CEO chair?
This isn’t a rant about one gender needing to be elevated above another, rather than both sides acknowledging that each does things that are good, indifferent and bad, thereby proving equality every time. It’s also not an implied message about sibling rivalry, or a request for storyline history about why Jack sits where he does right now.
Instead, this feature centers upon Jack’s general amateurish nature. What in the name of John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) has this man-boy learned through all these decades in the business world?
For starters, Jack didn’t have to earn anything, really. Instead, he was handed the reigns of the company his father built.
Ashley has always held the more astute business mind. She doesn’t make every decision personal and is able to separate her personal life from day-to-day affairs. No Ravi (Abhi Sinha) references aren’t apt in this instance, as that cute couple is consistently productive in the workplace.
Viewers recently saw Jack make another foolish demand on a business partner. He actually had the gall to ask Lauren (Tracey Bregman) to turn her back on Brash and Sassy’s line, offered no legitimate reason why she should and then got mad when she didn’t accept his latest demand. Baby need a bottle?
Meanwhile, Billy’s (Jason Thompson) white hot vendetta against his brother looms. Jack needlessly provoked that response by behaving like a high school boy who lost his girlfriend for the past year-plus.
Maybe Victor’s (Eric Braeden) many words about Jack haven’t been so harsh after all? Yes, the ‘Moustache’ is his own animal. But on the subject of Jack Abbott, seasoned viewers might be forced to admit that Victor’s feelings are right.
Hey Jack, take off the bib, climb down from your high chair and stand with the adults! In the meantime, every Y&R stockholder will be hoping that you don’t ruin their investment in the company they’ve supported for so long.
