Viewers who question ‘Glack’ on ‘The Young and the Restless’ should ask themselves a question. Has there ever been any couple in their real lives who they believed would never be together, yet were? Using possible as our guide, it’s both believable and fun that Gloria (Judith Chapman) and Jack (Peter Bergman) might actually become a romantic couple.

John (Jerry Douglas) was the love of Gloria’s life. Despite what any Abbott family members thought at the time, those two souls were committed to each other. Now all these years later Gloria finds herself attracted to John Junior. Yes, that could happen.

Is this storyline something that is seen every day of the week in the real world? Of course not. Within the realm of daytime drama seemingly mismatched pairs are far more common.
This scribe would have never guessed that Gloria and Jack would become a pair and that alone makes this bold plot move great, when humility is considered. Kudos to co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman for leading her team in this brilliant direction.
Chapman’s active return to the cast was widely welcomed by the many fans who watched Gloria operate during her heyday in the last decade. Chapman herself is a terrific actor who fills each scene she appears in, while not overshadowing her cast mates. That’s the mark of a first-rate professional.
Bergman, playing one of Y&R’s most iconic characters, has been given an arc that positions ‘Jackie-boy’ exactly right. He’s vulnerable, chasing windmills and smiling again.

This genre is best enjoyed as a mix of conflicts that flow toward understandable resolutions and good old-fashioned silly fun. Characters who remain true to themselves are accepted by the audience and given leeway where experimentation is concerned.
Is it possible that Gloria is setting Jack up? Yes. But it’s also just as likely that she found herself moving toward a situation that she never anticipated. Jack is surely following what’s in front of him. Don’t question it, just embrace the delightful, hilarious and satisfying ride that’s being offered at this moment in Genoa City.

I love Gloria and miss Gloworm…I love Jack….but the two involved, yuck!
I think Jack and Phyllis belong together.
I think it’s funny. I would rather see him with Gloria than Phyllis again.
Jack and Gloria? I say, why not!? Gloria loved John, why not his son years later.
OMG, that is a totally disgusting thought. I don’t like Gloria anyway but I think that Jack and Phylis belong together and I hope that that will eventually happen.
