The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Jack and Ashley Must Stop Dina – Mysterious Visit Seems To End

Is Dina (Marla Adams) nearing death on ‘The Young and the Restless’, or did she just want to reconnect with her family in her twilight years? Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) aren’t sure what to think. They, like Y&R’s viewers, don’t have enough information and are purely guessing.

Jack was open to meeting with his mother when he learned that the head of the Mergeron corporation would be in Genoa City. Dina flew in from Paris and boy were Graham’s (Max Shippee) arms tired. And that stale joke proved to be part of the unexpected rub.

Who was this middle-aged man that was accompanying their mother. Was he an employee, or someone who’d ingratiated himself into Dina’s life and stood to gain everything when she died? Ashley’s protective instincts unexpectedly kicked in, which represents relationship progress between her and her mother.

Dina rarely visited her hometown after leaving John (Jerry Douglas) so many years ago. There is certain segment of viewers who weren’t watching when this character was a semi-regular. Yes, Jack, Ashley and Traci (Beth Maitland) would reference her from time to time. But basically, Dina was simply part of the Abbott family’s backstory.

It was reasonable for Dina’s three children to believe that motherhood didn’t suit Madame Mergeron. She didn’t hate her offspring. But she also apparently hadn’t developed maternal instincts. That’s why tense exchanges seemed in order whenever all parties reconvened.

However, Dina did express a genuine desire to reconcile with her family after business issues were handled with Devon (Bryton James) and Neil (Kristoff St. John). Then, after all went surprisingly well Dina informed everyone that a return to France was necessary. That didn’t make sense.

Surely something is about to give, as Adams’ doesn’t seem likely to disappear from the cast indefinitely without this mysterious mini-arc remaining unresolved. But appreciative fans do know one thing. Y&R is delivering on its promise to provide character-driven drama through this storyline.
