The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Hope for Hilary and Mariah – Sidekick Status Being Considered

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Hope for Hilary and Mariah – Sidekick Status Being Considered

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) received good advice from Julie Chen on ‘The Young and the Restless’? The host of ‘The Talk’ advised her to stop thinking of Mariah (Camryn Grimes) as a sidekick and instead to treat her as an equal. Whether Hilary applies that wise counsel remains to be seen.

It was cool to see Howard Green (David Faustino) in Hollywood. Hilary hired the former GC Buzz producer to help her in the ‘Land of Make-Believe’. He witnessed Hilary’s initial interaction with Chen on the hotel rooftop and recorded the interview she scored on the set of CBS’ real-life afternoon talker.

That likeable entertainment program occupies the time slot once held by the beloved steamer ‘As the World Turns’, a show that many people’s grandmother’s once rightly enjoyed.

Meanwhile, back in 2017 Genoa City, Devon (Bryton James) gave Mariah a major interview coup. He arranged for Dina (Marla Adams) to join him on camera so he could announce that the Winters-Hamilton Corporation had just purchased Mergeron Enterprises. Hilary wasn’t pleased to learn that Mariah was going to be leading that interview, but she was still pleased that GC Buzz would be the source of that major news story.

Y&R has nicely created believable tension between Hilary and Mariah inside this workplace-based arc. Existing personality differences aside, the battle for Devon’s heart fits a classic soap theme all on its own, which tenured viewers instantly recognize from other soap stories. Wink to ATWT.

Mr. Hamilton’s shift from Hilary to Mariah will need months to play out. Chemistry between James and Grimes is good, but will need time to be more fully developed.

Romantic triangles exist across worlds both soapy and real. However, Jordan’s (Darnell Kirkwood) presence could eventually allow Hilary to shift her focus from Devon.

Due to ‘Hevon’s’ divorce settlement, Mariah will retain her paid spot in the Hilary-owned GC Buzz studios for 12 full months from when that couple officially ended. That means enduring and engaging conflict will persist between these two firecrackers.
