‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Hilary’s Transformation Continues – Mariah Shocked By Apology

'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Hilary's Transformation Continues – Mariah Shocked By ApologyHilary (Mishael Morgan) offered a real time apology on ‘The Young and the Restless’. During their co-broadcast on GC Buzz, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) sat dumbfounded as Hilary admitted that she tripped her in the now infamous Chelsea 2.0 spring fashion preview incident. This is yet another sign that Mrs. Hamilton is actually serious about reforming her life.

Devon’s (Bryton James) car accident truly seems to have awaken Hilary from her self-centered slumber. While jaded souls might choose to believe that her apology is part of a larger scheme to win back her husband’s trust, reality indicates that she’s telling the truth. That bodes well creatively.

Solid daytime drama often projects storylines that viewers can relate to. This is surely the case with Mariah’s workplace battles. Many readers can likely relate to various forms of favoritism limiting their ability to function within the workplace. Many careers, or jobs if one prefers, in the new millennium have become challenging to handle due to the various personalities that are connected to them.

Mariah never wanted to be stuck between Hilary and Devon, yet Hilary’s actions forced that position to be taken. Devon’s recent decision to retain his hoped-for ex-wife and then pair her on-camera with Mariah seemed potentially explosive. But viewers were head-faked by Y&R’s new writing regime, as Hilary used the scenario to humble herself. Kudos to Sally Sussman’s team, the actors involved and of course, fictionally speaking, to Hilary as well.

The Hilary character had been written into a corner in recent years. Here was this highly attractive, duplicitous, gold-digging schemer who apparently was incapable of personal growth. Fans of Lifetime’s two-hour movies might applaud, but Y&R was capable of delivering a far more nuanced version of Morgan’s character for awhile.

As 2017 unfolds engaging stories that explore different aspects of Hilary’s personality, Devon’s kind-hearted nature and Mariah’s resilient heart should all be shown. Collaboration between these three characters should also produce great results for Y&R’s devoted audience members.
