The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Graham Believes He’s Ashley’s Brother – Brent Davis Father To Both?

Graham (Max Shippee) asked an odd question on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While commiserating with Dina (Marla Adams) about her latest tense interaction with Jack (Peter Bergman), the apparent Mr. Bloodworth asked who Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) biological father was.

A decades-old storyline was revisited months ago. It served to refresh tenured viewer’s memories and fill in Ashley and Dina’s backstory for newer fans. Y&R revealed in the 1980’s that Ashley wasn’t John’s (Jerry Douglas) biological daughter, a fact he never came to learn during his earthly life. That point might also be a plausible reason why Douglas hasn’t reprised his ghostly role since Adams’ returned.

Dina wouldn’t tell Graham anything about Ashley’s genetic father. But after she left he pulled out a photo, apparently of himself, standing in front of a Genoa City elementary school. Sync that to Ashley’s recent confirmation that Graham’s mother is still alive and living in Florida.

Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) worked at a tennis pro in the 1960’s, which was the decade before Y&R debuted (1973). The soap’s likely big-haired 1980’s writing staff creatively lengthened Ashley’s backstory and the 2017 writer’s room is apparently doing so again, though with a twist.

Dina, bored with her marriage to John and unfit, by her own account, for motherhood, formed an unromantic bond with Mr. Davis off the court. She later gave birth to his daughter.

Graham falls within Ashley’s age range and now appears to be linked to her via soapy biology. Dina seems unaware of Graham’s paternal link to Brent, but will surely be informed, or come to learn this increasingly likely truth.

While all connected characters don’t know it yet, the mystery behind Graham’s intent to work for Dina at Mergeron appears steeped in his suspicions about Brent. Whether he originally intended to jump to the front of Dina’s inheritance line, which he’s since done, lingers as an open question.

Ashley hasn’t liked Graham from the beginning. She already has a brother who often creates angst in her life. Imagine how she’ll react if Graham’s speculation about his (their) father proves true.
