The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Dina Slaps Jack Hard – Elder Story Worth Telling

Dina (Marla Adams) slapped Jack (Peter Bergman) hard across the face on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She did so after her mouthy son referenced his mother’s past moral issues. But Dina’s off-balance nature likely wasn’t fully linked to Jack having abandoned her at the Top of the Tower the night before.

Senior citizen storylines aren’t often called for by soap opera fans. But they should be. Youth isn’t glorified in a mentally balanced society.

Instead, it’s seen as a protected class of developing individuals that should be raised by their parents. Not the other way around. As for those of grandparent age and older, they represent the wisest group in all countries across the globe.

Jack wasn’t nearly as leery as Ashley (Eileen Davidson) when Madame Mergeron flew home from Paris. He hadn’t experienced the type of betrayal his sister did on Y&R in the 1980’s.

Dina once told Ashley that John (Jerry Douglas) wasn’t her biological father. That reveal set her off on a 30-year tangent, though blaming Dina for various woes was childish. Thankfully Ashley’s gotten past that grudge.

‘Jackie-boy’ had opted to see her mother through the lens of his mostly fond childhood memories. That’s why Dina’s slap proved profound when Jack went to see her at the GC Athletic Club in order to apologize for leaving the night before without an explanation.

Traci (Beth Maitland) and now, Ravi (Abhi Sinha) noticed that something was off where Dina was concerned. Traci recognized that her mother was repeating herself. Ravi witnessed the lady confuse Graham (Max Shippee) with Jack at the charity concert party.

Ashley and Jack were flabbergasted when Dina recently announced that she was leaving the bulk of her estate to Mr. Bloodworth. That unexpected act, combined with the observations noted in the preceding paragraph and Jack’s red left cheek will provoke some type of family response.

Is Dina exhibiting the signs of dementia, or is she simply aging? While she’ll likely fight the suggestion, a doctor’s appointment at Genoa City Memorial Hospital surely should be scheduled.
