‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Devon Remembers Everything – Hilary Kicked Out As Hevon Ends

‘Hevon’ seems to have actually reached the end this time on ‘The Young and the Restless’. In a storyline that seems trumped up, Devon’s (Bryton James) recalled memories led to a confrontation with his wife. After a liquor glass was intentionally destroyed, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) was advised that she should pack her bags and get out of the penthouse.

Yes, the topical pun shown above was intended. People who don’t consider themselves to be experts on other people’s lives weren’t offended. As for Hilary, she didn’t know how to react to Devon’s assertion that she was a liar. So Mrs. Hamilton tried to smooth things over with her shiny teeth, sparkling eyes and that oh so sultry voice. Sorry, those assets didn’t work this time lady.

Sally Sussman and her team will be given a temporary pass on this particular climax. It appears that Y&R wants to change the dynamic of ‘Hevon’, the super couple that was created during the last regime. If this generous pass wasn’t in place, viewers would have to admit that Devon’s overreaction to what Mariah (Camryn Grimes) told him about New Year’s Eve doesn’t add up.

Why would Devon get so worked up about Hilary and Mariah scratching each other’s eyes out? Really. Why would the memories of those conflicts be so devastating that he would actually end his marriage over them? No, the writers pushed Devon to act out of character regarding this specific set of instances.

Yes, Devon nearly died. But Hilary didn’t make him drive his sports car at 140 miles per hour. Man up man, instead of blaming your wife!

Hilary was wrong, as was Mariah. Both women acted liked middle school girls. Yet Devon’s reaction to now-recalled memories sets him up as a bratty teenager as well.

Might Mr. High and Mighty be protesting too much? Is it possible that he has feelings for Mariah that are about to be acted upon? Viewers will soon know if that is the angle Sussman and her team is playing. And that writer’s room should be told that get-out-of-an-exaggerated-climax free cards are very limited.
