Mariah (Camryn Grimes) is smiling more than she ever has on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Devon (Bryton James) is happy as well. But it’s fair to ask if he’s subconsciously accessing a friendship to create romance?

To a great extend, both characters are poor souls. Their childhoods were similar, in that they lived deprived lives. There is no question that Mariah and Devon have formed a true friendship within the last year. However, the end of ‘Hevon’ surely is effecting Mr. Hamilton, as it would anyone.
Hilary (Mishael Morgan) isn’t the type of woman one gets over quickly. Yes, Devon thoughtfully considered whether he truly wanted to get divorced. But a variety of gut-wrenching conversations and other instances convinced him that it was time to break from the past and move forward.
Cliched phrases don’t create progress. Instead, their familiar sounds are offered to soothe various souls in many instances. Mariah therefore stands not as a friend at this point, but as a comfortable companion to explore the next phase of Devon’s life. He’s not intentionally doing anything wrong, it’s more a matter of seeking something comfortable after exiting a complex relationship.
Because of his billions, Devon needed to build some walls. Of course many people and certain women would want him for reasons that aren’t based on love. Mariah clearly isn’t in that category. Instead, she genuinely cares about Devon. That base establishes the potential for a true relationship.

Mariah’s past attempt to create romance with Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and vice versa failed badly. Since that point she’s drifted, focusing solely on her mom and her career at GC Buzz. But Miss Copeland’s job choice enabled her bond with Devon to deepen.
Wise advice to ‘Mevon’ and all who are in similar circumstances, is to pursue developments with consideration. Don’t abandon each other if everything doesn’t flow smoothly. This friendship will naturally evolve if it’s meant to. For both their sakes, here’s hoping that happens.
