‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Colin Refuses To Give Up On Love – Jill Living In the Past

Colin (Tristan Rogers) is the reason why Jill (Jess Walton) finally received Phillip’s (Donnelly Rhodes) ring on ‘The Young and the Restless’. More than four decades later, after the deaths of Phillip and Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), Mrs. Atkinson has realized what she believes was the ring that represents ‘Jilip’s’ enduring bond.

Okay Jill, give it a rest and stop living in the past! All who have also entered into Jill’s Utopian re-imagining must know that the first sentence in this paragraph was uttered by Colin or some other oaf? They would be correct on that account and now will be directly addressed.

Look, Colin outright stole Jill’s money. That was wrong. Then, he happened upon the music box that Jill claims she purposely left in Chancellor Park. That was a shot at the woman she claimed to love, but also called, “and old goat”, a “fossil” and other terms that can’t be offered within this space. Colin than proceeded to sell the ring off, claiming that the millions he gained was earned through his aforementioned investment.

Jill parlayed her job as a manicurist into a position as Katherine’s companion in the 1970’s. She was a forerunner version of Colonel Douglas Austin (Michael Evans), who began serving as Victor’s (Eric Braeden) sidekick in the 1980’s. While Douglas didn’t work on nails, he was written into the script as a plot vehicle.

The Jill character initially existed as a sounding board for Katherine. She later developed into Mr. Chancellor’s love interest. In time Jill had Phillip’s child, Phillip III (Thom Bierdz). So Jill’s outrage regarding Colin’s actions is now seen in clearer context. And, as longtime viewers know, the issue of how Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) came to be born, along with many other blotches in Jill’s life hasn’t even been detailed.

Colin is flawed. He’s a lout. He often rejects the truth for its unequal twin. But that man actually loves Jill Foster-Reynolds-Chancellor-Thurston-Brooks-Sterling-Abbott-Atkinson. While all of those additional last names weren’t gained legitimately, they do comprise this character’s documented history.

As for Mary Jesse Walton (her full name) and Tristan Rogers, those two actors remain outstanding. They are working through their meatiest arc since the Colin character was first paired with Jill. With whatever happens to that couple, here’s hoping that Walton and Rogers remain on the set, and if possible together indefinitely.
